Odiyan Malayalam Movie Review

Odiyan Malayalam Movie Review

The movie chronicles the life of Odiyans, who were mentioned in the folk songs of North Kerala. They have the ability to transfigure into any animal with their sorcery power. Odiyan is the most anticipated movie of 2018. The music for Odiyan is composed by M Jayachandran and the background score is done by Sam C S. The lyrics were penned by Rafeeq Ahamed and Lakshmi Sreekumar.

Odiyan was touted to be the next entrant to the 100-Crore club and reportedly, the movie has managed to achieve the same even before its release. According to the reports, Odiyan has already done a pre-release business of 100 Crores and that too 3 days before its release. It is for the first time in the history of Malayalam cinema that a film is going on to do a business of above 100-Crores even before its release. Earlier, Kayamkulam Kochunni had done a pre-release business of above 20 Crores.

Quick Review

A decent first half that has its own set of moments to offer with our own Mohanlal in top form. The intro sequence is a blend of class and mass, which is sure to give goose bumps to all. The action sequences are top notch and Mohanlal does those in his own amazing style. Much like Mohanlal, Prakash Raj and Manju Warrier too score heavily with their acts as Raavunni and Prabha respectively. However, there are hiccups in the narrative that pull down the film at portions. Slow paced at parts but still the film manages to keep the interest in tact so far and the first half has ended in an interesting way leaving the audiences eager to know more about the second half. Let's wait and see how the second half would turn out to be it.

Well, the expectations were indeed higher on the second half of the film. But it has to be said the latter half doesn't rise above the initial half. Too many predicatble elements and dramatic portion. Climax action sequences does keep the audiences engaged but not up to the hype.
